Every way to carry your parkrun barcode (2026)

Updated 2 November 2026

There are lots of ways to carry your barcode now. This is an honest round-up, including tools other people have made. Full disclosure: ScanMe.run is one of them, and this guide is on its site.

Every option below has to show your own athlete barcode. Whatever you choose, test it before Saturday and keep a printed copy as a backup.

Printed barcode, cards and wristbands

The classic. Print it from your parkrun profile, laminate it, or order a barcode wristband or tag from one of the many sellers. Nothing to charge, but easy to leave at home.

iPhone and Apple Watch

  • ScanMe.run (this site): adds your barcode to Apple Wallet from your athlete ID, pops up on your lock screen at your chosen parkruns, and syncs to your Apple Watch. Free, no account.
  • getrunpass.com and dfyb.run: other websites that make Apple Wallet passes. getrunpass also supports lock-screen alerts at your events.
  • Wallet's own "Create a Pass" (iOS 27 and later): photograph your printed barcode to make a pass. Needs your printed barcode to hand and doesn't add parkrun locations.

Android and Wear OS

Garmin

The parkrun barcode widget in the Connect IQ store, by gasteropod. Check you've got that one, as there are paid copies. On smaller watches, switch to its QR view, which scans more easily.

Fitbit Versa and Sense

Park Code in the Fitbit app gallery. Enter your details on the watch.

Other watches

Polar, Coros and Suunto don't have a known parkrun barcode option yet. A printed card or your phone is the way to go.

Tips whatever you use

  • Double-check your athlete ID. A typo sends your result to a stranger.
  • Show a QR code on small screens. It scans more reliably than the long barcode.
  • Turn your screen brightness up at the finish, and hold the code flat and still for a second.
  • Test it at home. Install the parkrun Virtual Volunteer app (iPhone, Android) on another phone and scan your code before Saturday.
  • Keep a backup. parkrun's official advice is still to carry your printed barcode in case your battery dies.
