How to get your parkrun barcode on an Android phone

Updated 2 November 2026

parkrun has accepted barcodes on phones and watches since November 2021. On Android you have three good options, all free, and none needs an app.

1. Add it to Google Wallet (best)

Your barcode sits in Google Wallet next to your bank cards, so it's always one swipe away.

  1. Open ScanMe.run on your phone and enter your athlete ID (the A and numbers under your printed barcode). You can paste your parkrun profile link instead.
  2. Pick your usual parkruns and, if you like, your colours.
  3. Tap Add to Google Wallet, then Save.

At the finish, open Google Wallet and tap your pass. For quicker access, add the Wallet tile to your Quick Settings panel (swipe down twice, tap the pencil icon and drag Wallet in).

2. Keep it on your home screen (works offline)

If you'd rather not use Google Wallet, ScanMe.run can save your barcode on your phone as a page that works without signal, handy for parks with no reception.

  1. On ScanMe.run, enter your athlete ID and tap Add to home screen in the "No wallet app?" box.
  2. In Chrome, tap ⋮, then Add to home screen (or Install app).

Tap the icon at the finish. The screen stays on while it's open, and you can switch between the barcode and a QR code.

3. Save it as an image

Tap Save as image on ScanMe.run and it downloads to your photos. It's the simplest option, but you'll need to find it in your gallery at the finish, so pin it to favourites.

Barcode or QR code?

Both scan at parkrun. The QR code is square and can be easier for scanners to read in bright light or on a small screen. You can choose either when you make your pass.

Tips

  • Check your athlete ID. One wrong digit gives your result to someone else. ScanMe.run shows a "Check it's you on parkrun" link that opens your profile.
  • Turn your screen brightness up at the finish, and hold the code flat and still for a second.
  • Test it at home. Install the parkrun Virtual Volunteer app (iPhone, Android) on another phone and scan your code before Saturday.
  • Keep a backup. parkrun's official advice is still to carry your printed barcode in case your battery dies.

Ready to try it?

Enter your athlete ID and your barcode is in your Wallet, on your watch, or on your home screen in under a minute.
